Profile

The Kerala State Coastal Area Development Corporation Limited (KSCADC) is a government-owned company established to coordinate development efforts in the state's coastal regions. Incorporated on December 22, 2008, the company aims to increase funding for coastal area development. Its operations began on January 1, 2010, taking over from the erstwhile Coastal Area Development Agency, which was established in 2004 to speed up development and improve the lives of fisher folk in the state.


With the motto "Innovate, transform, excel", it plans and implements innovative solutions for infrastructure creation, technology acquisition and commercialization, commercial operations and provides consultancy services. The corporation is currently handling various projects in these areas, to improve the coastal and fisheries infrastructure in the state

To conduct research and development to identify appropriate technologies for achieving the company's main goals.

To coordinate and facilitate the activities of government departments, NGOs, and other institutions to contribute their efforts and resources, including fund mobilization, towards integrated development projects/programs for coastal areas, and to pool the outputs from various institutes, organizations, and agencies working towards coastal area development.

To promote specific subsidiary companies for the delivery of services in the coastal areas, on a need basis.

To embark on the creation of cutting-edge structures and coastal infrastructures, encompassing offshore installations, advanced handling techniques, and innovative engineering solutions.

To undertake any other coastal project/consultancy work assigned by the Government, other states, statutory bodies, and agencies from time to time.

To receive, improve or develop any land belonging to the Government of Kerala or the Government of India, Local Body or Statutory Body for agricultural, fishery or industrial development, directly or in collaboration with Government, Local or Statutory Bodies.

To set up, run and manage work production centers for manufacturing goods required for attaining the main objects of the company.

To employ and remunerate experts to investigate and examine the condition, prospects, value and circumstances of any scheme for the welfare of the coastal communities including fishermen.

To enter into any partnership or arrangement for joint working with any other company, firm or person carrying on business with the same or similar objects of this Corporation.

To establish, provide, maintain and conduct research and other laboratories, training colleges, Schools and other such institutions for training, education and instructions to the fishermen and their families.

To employ brokers, commission agents and under-writers and to provide for remuneration of such persons for their services for promotion of the business of the Company in accordance with the provisions of the Companies Act, 1956.

Economic, marketing and social infrastructure facilities for coastal areas including but not limited to fishing harbours, fish landing centres, cold chain, community fish production, storage and marketing centres, drinking water supply schemes, road linkages, sanitation facilities, social infrastructure including health and sanitation facilities not conflicting with the activities of other departments.

To plan and develop sustainable fish-resource management programs in the coastal seas and coastal areas.
